Alpine mapping specialists, 2theAlps, have released their updated ‘Skiing by Train’ map for 2025. The map features over 200 winter sports resorts, which can be reached by train for a high-comfort low-carbon journey to the mountains.

As well as the classic Eurostar routes, new additions for 2025 are ferry routes across the Channel and the North Sea, plus sleeper train services to the Alps from Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam, added to help adventurous travellers piece together a flight-free itinerary.

Sleeper trains on the rise

Overnight train travel is becoming increasingly popular in continental Europe, and the ‘Skiing by Train’ map now includes the brand new 2025 service from Brussels to Venice (via the Austrian and Italian Alps) operated by European Sleeper. Also included are several Night Jet services operated by OBB, and two routes by Intercité de Nuit (part of SNCF).

You can find out more about the European Sleeper service in Iain’s interview with co-founder, Chris Engelsman:

Includes bus routes from the nearest station

The map shows the surprisingly dense network of railway lines in the Alps, and for non-rail served resorts, a bus route from the nearest station is indicated. All resorts are included in an indexed list for ease of navigation.

Available in hi-resolution for just £3

The 2theAlps team has been producing rail maps of the region for 15 years, and have been delighted to see the increased focus on train travel in recent seasons.
