Chamonix has started a new three-year partnership in which the car maker Kia will provide electric vehicles for the resort.
The resort already has a great reputation for sustainability and is a verified ‘Flocon Vert’ resort under the Mountain Riders scheme.
Marc HEDRICH, President of Kia France said:
“The relationship between Kia and Chamonix is obvious, given the common values we share: dynamism, commitment, quality and customer satisfaction.”
Vehicles provided by Kia
Kia will supply an all-electric fleet of 17 vehicles that will be supplied to the Chamonix tourist office, the Communes of the Chamonix Valley, the Club des Sports Club and the ESF.
The models being used in Chamonix include the following:
- Kia e-Niro
- Kia Sportage MHEV
- Kia Ceed SW PHEV
EV Parking in Chamonix
Chamonix offers a 50% reduction in parking costs for electric cars, plus in certain spots there is free charging.
Eric Fournier, Mayor of Chamonix is aware of the need to increase the number of charging stations:
“The outlets that we had installed in the car parks are victims of their success because the charging is free and the parking for electric vehicles is half price.”
You can find specific electric car charging and parking spots in the following car parks in Chamonix – St Michel (3 places), Mont Blanc (2 places) and Entrèves (2 places).
There are also two charging points in the Clos du Tennis car park. Plus four SYANE electric charging stations have been installed in the heart of the resort behind the town hall, in the Allobroges, Corzolet and Courmayeur car parks.
