Following a survey in January 2020, Les Arcs is reviewing the results and making a number of changes to make the resort more sustainable.
The survey flagged four key topics at the top of respondents’ lists:
– Waste
– Energy
– Transport
– Preservation
Reducing waste a key issue
The problem of waste was top of the list and has led to new policies to further reduce and limit the this with improved instructions how to responsibly dispose of bottles, more recycling bins, pocket ashtrays, more refillable water points, digital ski passes and zero plastic packaging.
Replies to the survey also included requests for more electric buses around resort, the use of snow farming rather than artificial snow and more ski touring routes.
Other ideas that cropped up might also prove popular – a ban on Bluetooth speakers in backpacks, anyone?
