Excellent news has reached us from Visit Tirol’s press agency about a new sleeper train to Austria.

Skiers can slash their carbon footprint and get extra days on the slopes with a new route to the Austrian Tirol.

Eurostar + Alpen Express

Travelling from London St Pancras, you start with by taking the Eurostar to Amsterdam and then transfer to the Alpen Express sleeper train.

This will take you direct to the foot of many of the Austrian Tirol’s best ski resorts.

Alternative route via Cologne

Alternatively, skiers can travel from London to Brussels and then Cologne (by Eurostar and ICE train), to board the Alpen Express there.

Daniel Elkan, from Snowcarbon first spotted these connections and this improved option for travelling by train to Austria:

The Alpen Express has a variety of quality couchette accommodation and a bar-disco on board. It’s a fantastic way to reach the Tirol and a real step forward for sustainable travel to the slopes; making the journey part of the holiday.

Return rail fares start from £239 per person. You can find out more, including all accessible resorts and train times at SnowCarbon.
